Full-Time Positions

Public Service Officer |Police Department

Responsibilities may include; performing all duties required of Police Information Desk personnel such as greeting visitors, providing general information, answering the telephone, preparing Police reports, data entry, handling non-emergency Police radio communications, contacting service providers or property owners, detention cell inspections and other miscellaneous Police Department administrative or operational duties. Additional assignments may involve enforcing parking and certain ordinances violations through citation or warning, collecting money from commuter lot pay boxes, assist with controlling pedestrian or vehicular traffic at an incident or during a special event and provide limited animal control support.

Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or G.E.D. or a combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. May be assigned to work one of three shifts.

Minimum starting salary for this position is $58,826. Includes excellent benefits package.

Health & Human Services Department | Administrative Assistant

           
The Village of Arlington Heights is seeking candidates for a full-time position of Administrative Assistant in the Health & Human Services Department. 

This position performs diversified and confidential administrative duties of considerable difficulty and involves a high level of diplomacy dealing with internal and external contacts. Provides skilled administrative support for the department, which may include preparing correspondence, processing payments for invoices, ordering and managing office/clinic supplies. Duties also include answering multi-line incoming phones, assisting residents/visitors on the phone and at the counter providing information and referrals related to local, state and federal programs while providing outstanding customer service. Acts as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies. Assists in budget preparation and ongoing monitoring of the budget. Transcribes meeting minutes for various commissions. 

The qualified candidate should possess a minimum of four years of experience performing a variety of administrative and secretarial responsibilities, computer knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, communication, writing and organizational skills, strong work ethic and the ability to work as a member of a team. 

Preferred candidate has a certificate or associate’s degree in a subject such as Human Services, Gerontology or Social Services. Previous experience in a community health environment or nursing services preferred. Applicant will be required to take a computerized administrative test including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and a typing skill test with a minimum of 40 words per minute.

Building & Property Inspector I  Building & Life Safety

The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for a full-time Building and Property Inspector position in the Building & Life Safety Department. 

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to providing information to the public regarding Village ordinances related to buildings, structures, and properties.  Inspects residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, structures, and properties to ensure public safety and compliance with all Village Codes.    

Requirements include extensive technical or specialized training such as that would be required by an Associates Degree or two years of technical or business school and four to six years’ experience in building construction with code compliance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. 

Additional Requirements include certification by the International Code Council as a Commercial Building Inspector and a Residential Building Inspector or the ability to obtain certifications within first year of employment and a valid Illinois State Driver's License. Ability to perform inspections and/or related duties after regular work hours as required. 

Minimum starting salary is $73,412.  Includes excellent benefits package.
